Forced Green

Planet Green re-ran episodes 1 and 2 last night, after all it was a holiday weekend
and their folks deserve a break too. Either that or they have absolutely no faith in
our short term memory.

In the mean time, please go back and check out the comments in the four previous
Greensburg episode updates. Many have been from Greensburg’s citizens
themselves.  Insightful, behind the scenes glimpses from the real people
that lived it, with no program editing.

And now, it’s time for trees…

If you have seen the program, you know how barren the landscape was left. If not,
well, let’s put it this way, tornadoes move quick, they hit, destroy, and are gone on
average from seconds to a couple of minutes. But when you have an EF-5, so massive
it takes 12 minutes from impact to departure, there is no escape, even for plant life.
It will suck into oblivion any tree, shrub, plant, and blade of grass, in it’s path.
It will literally pull the asphalt off the road. That happened to Greensburg and now
it’s time for Greensburg to get their trees back. And we can all help.

Greensburg is all about innovation when it comes to implementing new ideas for
green  living, but some things just have to be done the old-fashioned way—like
planting trees.  Sadly, 95% of the trees in Greensburg were lost in the tornado,
and they need them back ASAP for a variety of reasons, including soil erosion
prevention, wildlife habitation, noise pollution suppression, wind reduction,
shading, and simple aesthetic beauty.  Without trees, Greensburg can’t be nearly
